I'm not so awesome at updating my blog. Family and work life are very busy! At any rate, thought I'd document my progress here.
It's been over a month and a half since I ended the hCG maintenance phase. I have to say I kept all the weight off and have even since taken off another 8 pounds! I may do it again at the end of the summer if I'm unable to lose the last 15 pounds.
How have I kept losing weight? Well, for starters, I've been counting my calories and wearing the body bugg. Since I weight train, I try not to be more than at a 750/day caloric deficit. I've also been EXERCISING! A lot. Not like an obsessive-compulsive (like I was before), but around 45 minutes to an hour each day. I'm training for the Bear Lake Brawl Olympic Triathlon. This is around a 3 1/2 - 4 hour event for me. It's a 1 mile swim, 24.85 mile bike and then a 10k run. I'm really not great at any of these events, but I can do them. Here's what I've been doing:
Monday: 30-minute run. Bike to work & back if I'm feeling saucy.
Tuesday: 30-minute swim in the AM and weight training for an hour in the afternoon
Wednesday: 45-minute bike with 3-minute zone 3 HR intervals for about 15 minutes.
Thursday: 30-minute swim in the AM and weight train for an hour in the afternoon
Friday: 30-minute run.
Saturday: 1-hour race-pace bike ride (about 15-20 min in zone 3) and follow immediately with a 15-minute run (called BRICKS. Helps to train for the run transition)
I usually eat around 1,500-1,750 calories a day (more on the weight training days). I try to get in a 30% protein, 40% carbs and 30% fat ratio. I have felt the weight come off. I'm a tighter size 10 on my legs and a perfect size 8 around my waist. I am hoping this will be a bit more balanced in the coming months. I'd like to just be a size 8 all around. To get to my goal weight (the weight I was when I got married), I need to lose about 15 more pounds. It actually seems possible now!

I heart Moab
I went out of town last weekend to the most amazing place on Earth. Moab, Utah. It's full of God's most beautiful natural creation. The red rock was calling our names, so we had to go. We did plenty of mountain biking, a little road biking (because the little tyke was tired and hungry and didn't want to ride in his child bike stroller), and some hiking. I did ok with the eating, but not awesome. I watched my sugar intake. I had like 2 peanut butter cookies and 2 mini candy-bars. Other than that, I just ate what everyone else was eating.
I also started TOM on vaca, which was awesome. I got back from Moab yesterday and I was where I was when I left. My bodybugg did say I burned massive calories, however. On the biggest mtn biking day I burned close to 3,500 calories! I also had the awesome all-you-can-eat pizza/pasta bar later, however. I suspect TOM is affecting how much I weigh by about 3 pounds. That's usually the case.
Anyhow, I got the bug in me and today I had to bike to work. I know scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast, but I can't not do it now. I love it too much! But today we're back to the grindstone with the calories. I need another fill. I can eat anything under the sun!

Holy Crap!
It's been forever since I posted! Okay so here's the update: About a week after I started the HCG diet, I finally stopped starving and actually felt pretty good! I finished the diet out at 15 pounds lighter than when I started! Ah yeah. In addition, I had my body fat checked again (I had it checked when I first started), and nearly ALL of the weight I lost was body fat. That is WAYYYYY better than any diet I've ever done before. On most diets, you'll lose 25-30% in lean body mass.
At any rate, I liked it so much, I decided to start selling it. I have a friend who owns a pharmacy who manufactures the drops. He agreed to let me sell it. I really just wanted to start helping people lose weight. This way I can charge people less than what I paid for it and help tutor them along the way.
So now I'm on maintenance. I've lost another 3 pounds since stopping the diet and I'm back down to a size 12, comfortably, and a size 10 that is somewhat tight, but still looks good! I'd like to lose 25 more pounds, then I'll be back down to my lowest weight! I'm not sure I'll get there, though. I was a size 4 at my lowest and working out a ton.
I'm doing the Legacy Duathlon on April 17. We've been doing some biking and I plan on getting more running in as the weather continues to improve. It'll be fun and I can do it with my little boy. He loves his bike trailer. Wish me luck!

Today
I am losing willpower! I had one M & M today, however, I resisted freshly baked cinnamon rolls, Famous Dave's BBQ lunch, brownies, chocolate cake and all sorts of other junk food available today at the retreat! So I'm giving myself a thumbs up!
Here's today's meals (I did go 60 calories over):

Baaah!
Apparently I'm not as awesome of a blogger as I thought I was. Well I'm back at it. I sort of have to be. I started a new weight-loss plan: HCG.
The HCG diet, in a nutshell, is where you eat 500 calories a day and take the HCG hormone. The idea behind it is that the HCG "frees up" the abnormal fat reserves, thus allowing your body to feed off of its fat reserves rather than food. You are apparently supposed to not be hungry, though I'm STARVING! Sounds a bit cannibalistic and hokie to me, but I'm going with it since I know that 500 calories a day will make you lose weight, HCG or not. I am on day 3. The first two days are "loading" days, where you eat as much fattening food as you can fit down your esophagus. Today is my first 500 calorie day. I hear the first week is rough, but after that the HCG has fully kicked in and you feel full.
So today here's my food plan. Note that I have already had my breakfast and lunch, so it's up to me to get the rest of the day right:

Well that did it
So tonight my esophagus threw a royal fit. I went in for a .1cc fill today and my esophagus just couldn't handle it. Got to the point where I couldn't keep anything down, including my own spit. I felt like there was something squeezing my throat. It was so incredibly painful! So I called my girl, Colleen, the awesome nurse who helps me, and asked her if she could meet me and unfill me. She did and now I feel 100% better! I can't even explain how awesome that feels.
I don't think I have a slip because I felt immediately better once unfilled. Colleen said most people who have slips don't find that there is really any relief when unfilled. I'm going to go the weekend unfilled and on Monday put a bit back in again. I'm going to get filled back up SLOWLY! Meaning, at best, .2 cc's at a time. Maybe that'll do the trick. In the meantime I'll have to be pretty careful about my calorie intake!
